Closing Weekend

January 6 - January 7

Join us for the closing of Art+Flight!

This is your last chance to see the celebrated exhibition that includes paintings, sculptures, animated murals and other delights by over 30 artists. An exhibit that the press calls “transformative.” You’ll also have a chance to meet and chat with some of the featured artists in the exhibition. You don’t want to miss this!

And, visitors during Closing Weekend will receive a FREE Art+Flight commemorative button! (while supplies last)

Time: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Activities FREE with Museum Membership and included with general admission.

 

Saturday, January 6

10:00 AM to 3:00 PM – Live Painting with Youwen Productions – Enjoy Live Painting with Youwen Productions and see the creative process in action as artists create new paintings all day long.

10:00 AM to 11:00 AM – Live Jazz Performed by Northwest Swing

11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

  • Friendship Bracelet Making Station (All ages; while supplies last)
  • Weekend Family Workshops: Shadow Puppets – Investigating shadows, we’ll explore the universe to help us tell time and seasons on Earth.
  • Meet ‘N Greet with Art+Flight Artists – Join us in the Red Barn Special Exhibits Gallery to chat with some of of the featured artists in the exhibition.
  • VR Art Experience – Step inside your own virtual painting. 15-minute sessions. Suitable for age 13 and up. Space is limited; Sign-ups day of are required and are first-come, first-serve.

1:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Felt Ball Workshop – Artist Flóra Carlile-Kovács will guide participants through a 30-minute workshop as they design and make their own felt balls to keep. (All ages; while supplies last)

2:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Dick Nelms: Veteran and Artist – Nelms was a B-17 bomber pilot during World War II. After the war he enjoyed a long career as a professional artist and is the creator of the official seal of the State of Washington. Centenarian Nelms will talk about his amazing career during this chat with Vietnam War veteran pilot Dave Waggoner.
